»Circus To Go! By Big Apple Circus

    September 21, 2014 12:00 PM

New York's long running circus was originally the brainchild of Russian-born Gregory Fedin, whose goal was to train "first generation" performers in the traditions of circus acts. The show has been running since 1977, growing larger and larger over the years until it eventually became the New York staple it is today. The Big Apple Circus combines clowns, trapeze artists, animals galore and everything you'd expect from a classic circus, with a touch of modern flair inspired by current popular shows such as Cirque du Soleil.

    »Antony and Cleopatra

    September 21, 2014 2:00 PM

England's Royal Shakespeare company begins its next season with the tragedy Antony of Cleopatra. Directed by Michael Boyd, this staging of Shakespeare's classic has already been deemed one of the most humorous, fast-paced, and witty versions of the masterpiece yet to hit theatres. Darell D'Silva's take on Antony is a well formed combination of gruffness and genorosity, Kathryn Hunter's Cleopatra is petite with an surprisingly sharp wit, while the backing characters all offer eqaully polished performances.

»Fearless Productions Presents To Kill A Mockingbird

    September 21, 2014 2:00 PM

To Kill a Mockingbird is a play adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel from the world-renowned novel by Harper Lee of the same name. The play debuted in the self-proclaimed "Literary Capital of Alabama," Monroeville, and runs every year in May on the grounds of the county courthouse with the local townspeople participating as actors. Because the novel was set in Monroeville (the author's hometown), the town feels a civic duty to relive Harper Lee's classic on stage, despite the author's distaste for the public trading on the popularity her work. Nevertheless, Sergel's adaptation has become a town ritual of sorts and has only served to increase the number of visitors to the town looking to experience the place where one of America's greatest novels was set. The play has since spread in popularity outside of Monroeville and has become a favorite of sorts for community and high school theaters throughout the US.
